Mother-and-child support (ages 0–6): the Teixim Vincles project.

"We women need and deserve a whole tribe to shelter and care for us, in order to be able to shelter and raise a child. Loneliness and isolation are great predators of mothers with small children. Men are, precisely, part of this tribe. We need men who also revisit their own stories so they can offer their emotional maturity. If men and women who are not at the stage of raising children were emotionally available to support mothers, the world would turn to a different tune."

Who are we?

Espiral is a non-profit association which, in the 2017–2018 school year, joined Associació Ubuntu to launch the Teixim Vincles project, with funding from Pla de Barris and in collaboration with Zona Nord nursery schools. The programme supports children and families from the very start of life, detecting and preventing risk dynamics through support spaces for families in the early stages of parenting, from the perinatal process onwards (pregnancy, birth, postnatal period, child-rearing).

What do we do?

Develop a project where Bonding is the backbone, with a threefold aim:

How do we do it?

Providing various mother-and-child support spaces that foster wellbeing in families' everyday lives.

Family support spaces:

  • Discussion groups for mothers and fathers
  • Babywearing and baby-massage workshops
  • Free-play and motor-skills spaces
  • Postpartum and breastfeeding support
  • Talks and training on respectful parenting

Where?

Mainly at the Ubuntu premises (C/Vallcivera, 24) and at EBM Aqüeducte.

When?

Monday to Friday. Times vary by activity.

Who is it for?

For families in Zona Nord with a child aged 0 to 6.
